5 Movies your Children will enjoy this Halloween
Let’s face it; Halloween is a holiday for children. While they are fantasizing what costume to wear on that day, they are faced with a Halloween themed month for the entirety of October. There’s one simple way to get your children ready for the spirit of Halloween. I know the pumpkin carving and costume making is on your list of to do’s as a parent but what if you need to just take a quick break and breathe for a bit from the activities? Pop in a movie! Parents sometimes struggle to find movies, especially during Halloween. How do you find a movie that will not give them nightmares? This article will help answer just that. Here are a few movies perfect for your children during Halloween that we promise will not give them nightmares!
Monsters, Inc. (2001)
We know what you’re thinking already, we promised to not give your children nightmares and we start off this list with a movie titled ‘Monsters Inc.’ Bear with us for a second here. Besides the movie being Rated G, this movie is a Pixar classic. Debuted almost 16 years ago (Wow I feel old), ‘Monsters Inc.’ is far from scary. In fact, it is full of charm, innovative storytelling and a heartwarming experience that still works today. ‘Monsters Inc.’ is without a doubt, the perfect movie for your kids to sink their teeth in (No pun intended, okay maybe…) during the Halloween season. If you as a parent have the time to watch it, I would say jump on it too! This movie is made for ALL ages!
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
This here is undeniably the most popular movie to watch during Halloween. ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is the quintessential Halloween film for it’s imaginative atmosphere, visually appealing stop motion animation and wonderfully crafted music that will keep all eyeballs on the TV screen. If you are looking for a fun, family Halloween tradition, look no further!
Hocus Pocus (1993)
The 90’s were great. No doubt about it. Mainly, because of the movies that came out and Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus’ was definitely one of them. The tale of three bumbling witches still sticks today as one of the greatest Halloween movies for the children. We will admit, there can be a few spooks in here. However, ‘Hocus Pocus’ finds a careful balance between minor spooks and witty humor that will keep you and your children entertained and make watching this movie a tradition for every Halloween to come. If there’s any other way to describe this movie, think of ‘The Three Stooges’ but as evil witches.
Harry Potter (2001–2011)
What else is there to say about ‘Harry Potter’ that hasn’t been said already? One of the most worldwide successful movie franchises of all time and with plenty of movies to keep your children entertained for hours. Do your children a favor if you haven’t already and let them watch what it’s like to be in a school of Witchcraft and Wizardry! We will advise that there are more spooks as they go through each movie, but is also an eye opening universe of magic, wonder, fantasy, and thought provoking for your children as they experience each character grow internally and physically, taking on challenges that will forever take them out of childhood and into adulthood one movie at a time.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
This is probably the oldest movie we’ll recommend here. In fact, E.T. is a personal favorite of ours and we are still impacted by it after 35 years it has been released. We have no doubt it’ll impact your kids in a positive way. The premise is simple; a boy meets a friendly alien. That’s pretty much what it’s about on the surface, but ‘E.T.’ will connect with your child. Master filmmaker, Steven Spielberg has taken children, on an adventure that will teach them the importance of family and love for decades now. Amongst its thought-provoking story, children will find lovable and connectable characters, humor, and emotional moments that are honest and endearing. ‘E.T.’ is a true emotional movie experience and will do nothing but good for your child this Halloween!
There you have it! Hours of child-friendly entertainment ready at your disposal! We know sometimes parents with young children need to take a mini break with them, especially during Halloween. We bet what parents fear most on Halloween is the sugar rushes their children get! With these movies, you will have the time to enjoy family-friendly entertainment and keep the spirit of Halloween all month long!
