Fun DIY Flower Outfit using the Sun Blocker Romper

“Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together make this world a beautiful garden.”

Spring is here! KidzStuff® has created yet another DIY costume! Take a look below at our KidzStuff® do-it-yourself flower outfit for your little one. We used the KidzStuff® Sun Blocker™ Romper. So if you decide to take your little flower out for some Vitamin D, their soft, gentle skin will be protected from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The UPF-rated one-piece (with a built-in hoodie) is the perfect outfit for your baby to have some fun in the sun without getting a bad sunburn.

Let’s begin the DIY!

Materials (most materials can be purchased at your local crafts store or Dollar store)

  1. The KidzStuff® Sun Blocker™ Romper (we used the pink romper, but you’re more than welcome to use another color)
  2. A pack of felt
  3. A pair of scissors
  4. A permanent marker
  5. Fabric glue (non-toxic)

Instructions

Step 1: Grab a piece of felt and draw the shape of a flower petal. Using a pair of scissors cut out the shape and use this as your template.

Step 2: Continue drawing flower petals using the template and once you have around 14 petals, begin cutting out the shapes. We decided to use an assortment of colors, from pink and blue to orange and purple.

Step 3: Using fabric glue, begin gluing the petals on the edge of the hoodie. The intention is to make the petals go around your baby’s face when they are wearing the hoodie. Let the glue dry for a good 10-15 minutes. Place a heavy object over the petals, such as a textbook, to help them stick to the Sun Blocker™ Romper.

Step 4: As the fabric glue is doing its magic, grab a green piece of felt and draw the shape of a leaf. Get your scissors and begin cutting out the shape. Use this as your template to draw and cut out more pieces.

Step 5: Using fabric glue, begin gluing the leaves on along the sleeves of the hoodie, one towards the top and the other towards the bottom. Let the glue dry for a good 10-15 minutes.
